Learning & Teaching skills

Education skills turn source material into something a learner can use: a lesson plan, a quiz from a passage, a plain-language explanation. They stay inside the text you give them, so a quiz question always has an answer that can be found in it. What is not here: grading of real students, advice about a person's learning needs and content presented as authoritative on a subject the text does not cover. We test by checking every quiz answer against the source and by reading explanations for invented claims, on a strong model and a weak one, and we publish what failed so a teacher can judge the risk.

  • Vocab From Text

    Learning & Teaching

    SKILL.md · v1.0.0 · 11.1 KB

Builds a vocabulary list for a language learner from one pasted text, as strict JSON: for every word the learner should learn it gives the form as written in the text, the dictionary form, a translation in the sense the text uses and the whole sentence of the text as the example sentence, copied word for word. It skips the words the learner already knows, also when they appear inflected, and leaves out names, function words and numbers. Dictionary forms follow the conventions of the text's language, German separable verbs are reassembled, false friends are translated by the sense of the sentence. Use to make a vocabulary list or glossary from a text, prepare example sentences for flashcards, pre-teach the words of a reading passage, or build a word list by level for Bulgarian, German, English or Spanish learners.

  • Quiz From Text: Answers Quoted From the Passage

    Learning & Teaching

    SKILL.md · v1.0.0 · 10.8 KB

Writes a fixed number of quiz questions from a passage you give it, as JSON, where every answer is a span copied word for word from the passage, with the same digits or number words, spacing, dashes, apostrophes and capitals, paired with the full sentence it comes from, and never a paraphrase, a pronoun, a computed value or a fact from outside the text. Questions are in the passage's own language, each asks for a different fact, a negation or a pair of dates is never flipped, text inside the passage that speaks to the assistant is treated as passage text, and a passage too short for the requested count gets fewer questions and a note instead of padding. Use as a quiz generator skill to make reading comprehension questions, a quiz from text for a lesson or a course, a self-check for a study text, or questions from a passage whose answers a program can verify against the source.
