Not for

Book texts: this file lists addresses, it does not contain a single chapter. Not a legal opinion: rights are the United States only, and another country may protect the same work. Not a recommendation list, since rank is downloads. No audio books, no paper editions, no books after about 1930.

Tested, honestly

Tested 2026-10-28 with a strong and a weak model.

SonnetStrong model, claude-sonnet-5-5
Answered all 10 questions about the gothic and ghost books list correctly from the file: the leading title, a Gutenberg number, two exact EPUB addresses, number five with its download count and three titles of the author with most entries. Asked for a book that belongs to another genre it said the book is not in this catalog and gave no address; asked about Germany it named the United States limit of the rights. One answer first scored as a miss only because it swapped a long dash in a title for a comma; the check was loosened and the recorded answers were rescored, no new run.
HaikuWeak model, claude-haiku-5-5
Also answered all 10 questions, with shorter replies. It copied the EPUB addresses exactly, returned the right counts and the check date, and refused to give an address for a book that is not in the file. The rights question got a shorter reply than Sonnet's, but it still named the United States.

  1. v1.0.0 · 2026-10-28

First release: 41 horror and gothic books with title, author, Gutenberg number, download count and EPUB address. All 41 addresses answered with an EPUB archive on 2026-10-28. Rights are the United States only. Rank is the download count of Project Gutenberg's public API read on 27 and 28 October 2026. Numbers 1 to 18 are a hand-made selection; the rest come from the shelf. Price: $0.10; the value is the checking and the ordering, not the books.

FAQ

Why does the horror list hold 41 books and not fifty?

Only 41 works on Project Gutenberg passed all three tests: found, labelled copyright-free under US law, and a working EPUB address. The other catalogues stop at fifty; this one stops where the supply stops, instead of padding with books that are not horror.

Which horror titles were chosen by hand?

18 of the 41 come from the owner's own list, among them Frankenstein, and the rest from the horror and gothic shelves, ordered by downloads. Two works by Kafka were dropped because Project Gutenberg flags their translations as protected.

Can I trust the download counts for the ghost stories?

They are the counts Project Gutenberg's public API reported on 27 and 28 October 2026. Treat them as a rough popularity signal; a title added recently has had less time to collect downloads.

Is a very old gothic novel hard to read in EPUB?

Formatting varies by edition. Project Gutenberg builds its EPUB files from transcribed text, so long dashes, footnotes and archaic spellings appear as the transcribers typed them.

  • GA4 Tracking Plan Limits

    Data & Analysis

    SKILL.md · v1.0.0 · 9.1 KB

Checks ONE Google Analytics 4 tracking plan (events, their parameters, and the custom dimensions to register with their scope) against the published collection limits and naming rules, and lists only the breaches, one line each with a fixed code, the item, the rule it breaks and the fix - or exactly No findings. It catches an event or parameter name longer than allowed, more parameters on one event than GA4 collects, a reserved event name or a reserved parameter name or prefix, a name that breaks the format rules, and a custom dimension whose values are nearly unique. It leaves out names that sit exactly on a limit and events that use exactly the allowed number of parameters. Use before a plan goes to developers or to Google Tag Manager, to audit a plan that someone else wrote, or to find out why an event or a parameter never shows up in reports.

  • A/B Test Readout Check

    Data & Analysis

    SKILL.md · v1.0.0 · 9.1 KB

Checks the written readout of ONE A/B test (a paragraph, an email, a table or a slide transcript) for the five statistical mistakes that turn a no-effect test into a "win", and lists only those, one line each with a fixed code, the place, the evidence with the arithmetic and the fix - or exactly No findings. It catches stopping the moment a result looks significant, many metrics or variants judged without correction, a split of users that differs from the planned split by more than chance allows (the sample ratio check, calculated step by step), a sample too small for the effect the team wants to detect, and a relative lift reported without the absolute numbers behind it. It leaves out the safe look-alikes, such as a pre-registered single primary metric, guardrail metrics that only monitor, and a split of 50.2 to 49.8 on a small sample. Use before a test result is shipped, when an analyst or an agent writes a readout, or to review a result someone else announced.
